About the HEIC and JPG formats
HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is the default photo format on iPhone and iPad. It stores photos at roughly half the size of JPEG at the same quality, but many apps, websites, and Windows tools still can't open it.
JPG (JPEG) is the most widely supported image format in the world — every browser, app, and device can open it. It uses lossy compression, ideal for photos where a small file matters more than pixel-perfect accuracy.
